This recipe was inspired by Abby Fisher’s cookbook, What Mrs. Fisher Knows about Old Southern Cooking. This was the second known cookbook written by a Black person in the United States. She had an award-winning blackberry bourbon recipe, which sounds delicious. But, this is a wine blog. So, I took that idea turned it around a bit.
Bourbon barrel aged wine is becoming more popular. These are rich wines that you can drink by themselves. They are easy drinkers. But, they are also great in a cocktail like this one.
This recipe takes the humble blackberry and turns it into a delicious cocktail mix. You can put some spices in this drink to add a more distinctive flavor. Cinnamon and cloves would be a perfect choice to add while creating a blackberry syrup. But, just fresh blackberry is great on its own too.
You can savor this refreshing drink with a delicious dessert like this bread pudding pie or this Sour Chocolate Cake Recipe.
If you can’t find a bourbon barrel aged red wine, you can use these below for this cocktail drink.
