Salisbury Steak Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 oz onion (salisbury steak)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (salisbury steak)
- 20 oz ground beef (salisbury steak)
- 2 cloves garlic (salisbury steak)
- 1 large egg (salisbury steak)
- 2 tbsp ketchup (salisbury steak)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (salisbury steak)
- 3 tsp dijon mustard (salisbury steak)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (gravy)
- 2 garlic cloves (gravy ingredients)
- 1 oz onion (gravy ingredients)
- 5 oz mushrooms (gravy ingredients)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (gravy ingredients)
- 3 tbsp flour (gravy ingredients)
- 2 cups beef stock (gravy ingredients)
- 1 cup water (gravy ingredients)
Instructions
- Set aside for 5 minutes.
- Add remaining salisbury steak ingredients into the large bowl.
- Use your hands to mix until just combined - don't over mix.
- Divide into 5 and pat into oval patties.
- Sear the oval patties on a skillet over-heated oil.
- Cook for 1 minute on each side and transfer to a plate
- Add additional oil to the skillet and sauté minced garlic and onions.
- Add the mushrooms into the skillet and cook for 3 minutes until golden.
- Turn heat down to medium.
- Add butter and flour and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
- Gradually add in beef broth, stirring as you go.
- Once mostly lump free, whisk in remaining gravy ingredients.
- Add steaks along with the juices on the plate. Cook for 7 minutes.
- Stir occasionally around the steaks.
- Put steaks onto a plate and season gravy with salt and pepper.
- Serve with mushroom gravy.
